Watkinsville Police: 'Suspicious Person' Was Wanted for Robbery, Parole Violation
The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
A man going door to door in the White Subdivision in Watkinsville offering to trim trees for a price last week was wanted for robbery and parole violation, police said.
Officers confronted Jamie Shawn Chambers, 34, of Evans, after neighbors complained about his suspicious behavior around 3 p.m. on Oct. 26, Chief Lee O'Dillion reported in a news release.
A computer check revealed warrants in Chambers' name, he said.

Chambers was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Jail while waiting to be picked up by the State Board Of Pardons And Parole in Atlanta, he said.

- Police were called to Colham Ferry Road at South Main Street on Oct. 24 at 10:14 a.m. where a 2000 Jeep Cherokee had been hit from behind by a 2007 Ford Taurus. Neither driver was injured. An 83-year-old woman was cited with following too closely.
- A 2000 Honda Civic struck the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet HHR on VFW Drive at Camden Court at 4:19 p.m. on Oct. 26. Neither driver was injured. A 21-year-old man was cited with following too closely.
Police responded to a total of 30 calls within city limits between Monday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct.30.
