"The Rabies Season is here and "Hazing" a Coyote as recommended by HSUS, many Animal Control and Shelters can cause you to be scratched or bitten. While it may work the first or second time, the Coyotes will soon become Habituated to it and will become bolder and more aggressive. Similar to "Crying Wolf". The woman in the article below struck out at a Rabid coyote that was attacking her dog and was bitten. The only solution is to have it trapped out of the area or shot. Organizations who have no understanding of what the animal is capable of are making these suggestions and are causing people to be injured. All canines and cats lick their paws. If a coyote is Rabid and licks its paws and then scratches someone, they will get Rabies. Go ahead and haze this aggressive coyote like this Woman in this article did. Then you can pay $5000 or more for the Post Rabies Exposure Vaccine...all she had to do was give it the dog. If you are so emotionally attached to your Pet that this is unthinkable, then carry a weapon. A (9mm with Hollow Points or larger caliber) when walking your dog especially in an area surrounded by wooded terrain. When I check my line, I personally carry a Glock G17 with hollow points or a .45ACP that I have built to reliably feed hollow points. An AR-15 sits beside me in my truck when I check the Cattle Farm. Here are some pics of a guy in Colorado that was attacked by 3 coyotes after his car stalled and he was walking home. Since we are smack in the middle of the coyote breeding season, the animals are going to be much more aggressive as they hunt for ANY ANIMAL of opportunity to feed themselves and their pups. Soon, there will be an additional 5-8 coyote pups in addition to the coyotes that some of you already see. Do not think an attack cannot happen here, it can. I would like to invite anyone in these communities who is interested in the Truth concerning Wildlife Management to visit my page on FB. It is the third link below. I strongly encourage you to view the video, "The Complete Documentary on the Fatal Coyote Attack of Taylor Mitchell" (nearly 1000 people have viewed this on my page.) The Eastern Urban Coyote is Evolving and becoming much more bold and aggressive than his Rural brother. There was a report last year of a coyote actually coming up to the fence around a pool during the late spring and summer in Oconee or Clarke County. Pay attention to the news reports about the number of pets being attacked and killed. Be aware of the number of "lost dog or lost cat" signs put up in neighborhoods in your area. Most people do not take this Predation seriously. There is a coming Storm as these parent coyotes pass these killing behaviors down to their new pups. One woman payed $1800 to have her German Shepherd put back together after it was attacked by 4 coyotes in her back yard. The problem with that is the coyotes are still running around waiting for the opportunity to strike again. This is not a game people. I know. I trap them year round.
