1. Mayor and Council Meeting Recap: Aug. 24, 2026 (roswellconnections.com) — Roswell's Mayor and City Council approved several moves that affect local arts, parks, and tax collection at their August 24 meeting. They honored retiring City Attorney David Davidson, promoted Joseph Cusack, backed grants and contracts for arts and trail lighting, and accepted a $48,000 Roswell Arts Festival donation for park and studio upgrades. Council also authorized a petition for temporary tax collection relief due to Fulton County assessment delays.
2. Roswell police adopt new technology for real-time crime center (koat.com) — Roswell police have rolled out 23 new license plate readers, plus drones and other cameras, to help solve crimes faster while promising strict limits on data use and officer access. Leaders say the tools have already helped recover stolen cars and investigate hit-and-runs, and they're still finalizing how the system and its data will be audited.
3. Rheas II in Roswell receives a 64% on their recent health inspection (thegeorgiagazette.com) — A Roswell restaurant, Rheas II on Alpharetta Highway, recently received a 64 out of 100 on its August 18 health inspection, with multiple violations cited. Issues ranged from lack of a certified food safety manager and missing health policies to mold in food and improper storage practices. Some problems were corrected on-site, and the manager has 60 days to obtain certification.
4. Lawmakers call for oversight of license plate cameras (times-georgian.com) — A Roswell-based state senator, John Albers, is helping lead a new task force to tighten oversight of automatic license plate readers used across Georgia. Lawmakers and civil liberties advocates are responding to reports of misuse, including stalking and wrongful arrests, while companies like Atlanta's Flock Safety pledge new safeguards. Any future legislation could shape how Roswell and other cities use this technology.
5. How Fulton County Schools Is Building Tomorrow's Workforce - Business RadioX ® - (businessradiox.com) — Fulton County Schools, which serves Roswell, is ramping up career pathways, work-based learning, and literacy to better prepare students for jobs, college, or the military. Superintendent Mike Looney also highlights phone-free schools, facility funding through ESPLOST, and a push for stronger attendance, while urging North Fulton businesses to offer internships and share positive school stories.
