• 17 Eerily Fun Ghost Tours in Atlanta & Georgia (mommypoppins.com) — Families in Rutledge can look forward to the Haunted Village at Hard Labor Creek State Park on October 24, with separate daytime and nighttime walks through Camp Daniel Morgan's spooky trail. The broader guide also highlights other ghost tours across Georgia, but this Rutledge event offers the closest, most convenient Halloween outing for local residents.
• Obituary and funeral service: Lennox E. Byers, of Monroe (monroelocal.org) — The community is mourning the loss of infant Lennox E. Byers, whose extended family includes grandparents Sherry and Rick Hudgins of Rutledge. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, at Truth Chapel in Loganville, and friends and neighbors are invited to share condolences or send flowers through the funeral home's online registry.
