12th Annual 'Movies By Moonlight' Kicks Off

Sandy Springs, Ga, - Now entering its 12th year, Movies By Moonlight (MBM), brings back the nostalgia and fun of the outdoor cinema! Known as the “best block party in Sandy Springs”, this FREE event will again span three Friday evenings of August 26, September 9 and September 30. The event is sponsored by Leadership Sandy Springs, a professional leadership organization that develops, educates and connects community and business leaders in the Sandy Springs and Central Perimeter area. Every summer, LSS delivers a quality, community-building experience through this full evening event. Shown on a huge inflatable screen, a family-friendly film is projected to an audience for viewing on the terraced lawn of the Activity Center at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. Prior to the screening, numerous vendors and food trucks will offer entertainment, food, activities, and community spirit.

The series will feature the following popular films: Zootopia, the story about a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox who team up to uncover a conspiracy; The Jungle Book (pending availability), the new action remake of the 1967 Disney classic about the boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle; and closing with Minions (pending the release of a more recent film), the spinoff/prequel to the Despicable Me franchise about the loveable, single-celled, Tater Tot-like organisms that seek a more just master.

Movies begin at dark, but there is plenty of food and fun for several hours before it starts. Food trucks and concessions will offer dinner and drinks for purchase. Additionally, guests will be treated to entertainment and hands-on activities from local schools and Sandy Springs non-profit organizations. LSS has kids in mind with inflatable amusements in the Kids Zone, along with tumbling games by Jump Start Gym. The Sandy Springs Fire Station will present Touch-A-Truck for children to explore. Cinemoms, the movie club for parents, will be on hand offering memberships and novelty items. More vendors will be confirmed soon. Families are encouraged to come at 6:00 p.m. for fun and to purchase dinners or bring their own picnic baskets, along with blankets and coolers. Alcohol is not permitted.
