The 10th anniversary of Movies by Moonlight was a stunning success with an estimated total of 7,000 people from a broad cross-section of Sandy Springs in attendance.

The blockbuster kickoff event featuring the animated hit film Frozen drew the largest crowd ever despite sweltering temperatures. Subsequent September events, Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon 2, drew sizeable audiences, filling the lawn of host venue Sandy Springs United Methodist Church as well.

Vendors lined the midway of the church’s parking lot as new food and entertainment offerings kept attendees delighted and busy until show time.

New this year, a special Kids Zone provided entertainment that included: bouncy castles, tumbling activities by Jump Start Gym, movie themed goodies from Young Chefs Academy, fire trucks by the Sandy Springs Fire Department, face painting by Bank of Sandy Springs, art activities by Springmont School, games hosted by students from Youth Leadership Sandy Springs and Interactive Club, and shooting basketball hoops with Atlanta Hawks representatives, among many other activities.

Yumbii and Chef Rob’s Caribbean Café food trucks fed the crowds, while local school performing arts groups serenaded the audience and the Sandy Springs Youth Sports gymnastic team performed several routines.

A pre-event slideshow highlighting sponsors and shots of audience members made for a feel-good experience all around. Movies By Moonlight 2014 proved once again that it was the best evening block party in Sandy Springs.
