Hello, Sandy Springs! I'm Sean Peek and I'm filling in for your usual curator Patrick for the next couple of days. Please note that your newsletters may be a bit lighter during this time. Now, here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and warm. High: 89 Low: 68.
Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:
- Sandy Springs residents will get a chance to tell their City Council what they think of the proposed fiscal year 2023 budget at public hearings on June 7 and 21. As part of the proposed budget, higher gas prices are adding more than $480,000 compared to the fiscal year 2022 and at least 11 new full-time positions are envisioned in the city's proposed budget. The public hearings will start at 6 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at 1 Galambos Way on both dates. To make a comment at the meetings, residents must submit a Public Comment Form. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Yesterday, the Sandy Springs Police Department said that Jamari "PeeWee" Marable of Sandy Springs is being held at the jail on charges including murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of cruelty to children. Previously, Marable was a suspect in the shooting death on May 23. He turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail on May 28. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Five new residences were recently listed in the Sandy Springs Area Real Estate Roundup. Four are single-family homes, ranging from 760 square feet to 3,200+ square feet. The apartment residence is part of Park Towers and features a private patio off of each of the two bedrooms. For all Sandy Springs residents looking for a new home, happy house hunting!
