3-Car Crash Sends Vehicle Down Embankment, Into Retaining Wall

Two people were injured in the accident, which was reported Thursday morning on Northridge Road in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A three-vehicle accident during the Thursday morning rush hour sent two motorist to the hospital in Sandy Springs.

The accident was reported around 6:43 a.m. Feb. 16 on Northridge Road at the GA-400 overpass. Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Sam Worsham said the first vehicle, a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, was turning left onto entrance ramp for S.R. 400 southbound when it collided with a 2010 Honda Civic.

The driver of the Jetta was facing westbound attempting to make the turn when the eastbound-traveling Civic struck the right front side of the car, according to an accident report released by the police department.

A third vehicle, a 2015 BMW 435 XI, was stopped on the exit ramp from GA-400 southbound was also hit in the collision, causing that vehicle to be pushed down an embankment. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a retaining wall.

"The wall held the vehicle and prevented it from going further down the embankment," Sgt. Worsham told Patch.

Two drivers were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
