$50,000 Donated Towards Arts Programming In Sandy Springs
The Development Authority of Sandy Springs made the contribution last week.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The Development Authority of Sandy Springs last week approved making a $50,000 contribution for the Sandy Springs Foundation to further arts programming for the city.
The Sandy Springs City Council recently appointed new members to the Foundation, which will be tasked with raising money for an endowment to fund educational and other arts-related programming at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center scheduled to open in 2018 (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. “The Authority is pleased to provide this gift, indicative of our commitment to arts and educational programming," said Authority Chairman Chip Collins. "We hope that our contribution, along with the support from the city, sends a strong message that Sandy Springs is dedicated to the arts and we encourage similar levels of commitment enhancing fundraising efforts among other corporate and private donors."

Development authorities were created by the Georgia General Assembly to accomplish the public purpose of promoting trade, commerce, industry and employment by facilitating certain development projects.
The Development Authority of Sandy Springs' mission is to support city-sponsored projects, city redevelopment and economic development goals, educational institutions or other nonprofit organizations in the city by providing taxable and tax-exempt bond financing opportunities and other incentives pursuant to the Georgia Development Authorities Law.

“Creating places of community is a core strategy in creating City Springs," Mayor Rusty Paul added. "One of those place makers is through the arts, and with the help of the Foundation, we can support those efforts providing resources needed to make certain we create, attract and develop the highest quality programming and educational opportunities for our entire community."
