Act3 Arts Academy Presents 'Avenue Q School Edition'

The production will be held June 16-19 at the Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs.

Sandy Springs, GA — Act3 Arts Academy, the youth division of award-winning theater company Act3 Productions, presents Avenue Q School Edition June 16 through 19. Performances are at Act3 Playhouse, Sandy Springs Plaza, 6285-R Roswell Road, Sandy Springs. Tickets are available at www.act3productions.org.

Humans and puppets interact in the hysterical musical that satirizes the highs and lows of becoming an adult. Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart. The school edition maintains the dramatic and comic intention and integrity of the original musical, but is edited to be more appropriate for high school audiences. The show is rated PG-13 for mature content.

Act3’s Avenue Q School Edition workshop provides the high school and college-aged cast a unique opportunity to participate in a puppetry arts intensive with industry professional, Spencer G. Stephens. A resident puppeteer at the Center for Puppetry Arts, Stephens played Gary Coleman in the southeastern premiere of Avenue Q at the Horizon Theatre Company. In just three weeks, the students learned how to animate puppets through acting, song, and dance and gained experience operating hand, rod, and glove puppets.
