Act3 Productions in Sandy Springs Wins 12 MAT Awards

Act3 Productions, the community theater based in Sandy Springs, has won 12 Metropolitan Atlanta Theater (MAT) Awards ranging from Best Leading Actress and Actor, to Best Musical Direction.  The honors were announced at an awards ceremony this past weekend and included honors for Act3 in costume design, sound design, direction, lighting design, youth actor and more.  Lyn Taylor won her third consecutive MAT award for Best Musical Direction, while Patti Mactas repeated last year’s win for the Moira Thornett Director’s Award for a Musical.

“The annual MAT awards are not only wonderful for recognizing individual theater professionals and stand-out performances, but the organization also brings us all together to celebration the exceptional work being done by community theaters throughout the city,” said Patti Mactas, Act3 Productions’ artistic director.  “The attention generated by the awards helps fill seats in general, while it raises the bar for the artistic and technical work being done.”

About the MAT Awards

The Metropolitan Atlanta Theater (MAT) Awards originated in October 2004 with the intention of recognizing those hardworking individuals that put their time and effort into community and non-union professional theater.  Theaters are invited to submit productions to MAT, and judges attend each nominated performance at least once.  The winners in 18 categories are announced at an annual awards ceremony.  www.matawards.com
