Sandy Springs, GA—Act3 Productions presents the musical The Fantasticks August 12 through 27 at Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs Plaza, 6285 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs. The Fantasticks, is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, the two fathers who try to keep them apart, and the magical journey their love takes them on. With book and lyrics by Tom Jones, music by Harvey Schmidt and featuring the song “Try to Remember.” The production is directed by Zip Rampy, and tickets are $15 to $30 and may be purchased at www.act3productions.org.
In the Fantasticks, the narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo's words that "without a hurt, the heart is hollow." Holding the record of the longest-running musical in the world, "The Fantasticks" is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.
The performance schedule is: August 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 at 8pm. A Sunday matinee is offered August 12 and 21 at 3 p.m. Group tickets are available by calling 770-241-1905.
