Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:
- Some Fulton County families are struggling to find alternate after-school care options. There is currently a shortage of after-school care spots in Fulton County. The parents were not notified of the shortage until the Friday before the start of the 2022-2023. (WSB Atlanta)
- Fulton County is reportedly considering leasing 700 of its detention center beds to Atlanta. The Fulton County center only houses about 50 non-violent offenders in its 400,000-square-foot facility. About 300 medical professionals have signed a letter urging the Atlanta City Council to reconsider the proposal due to mass incarceration concerns. (CBS46.com)
- A Fulton County Superior Court indictment accuses Atlanta rapper Young Thug of nine new charges. The re-indictment was filed on Aug. 5. The new charges are for participating in criminal street gang activity and violating the state's Controlled Substances Act. According to the rapper's attorney, Young Thug "has committed no crime whatsoever." (The Atlanta Voice)
