Why Sandy Springs property taxes are rising in next year's budget (fultonneighbor.com) — Property taxes in Sandy Springs are set to rise by 0.2635 percent next year because the city plans to adopt a millage rate higher than the rollback level after reassessments. Residents will have three chances to speak out at public hearings in Sandy Springs City Hall, starting October 20, before the final rate is approved.

Vince Kelley on The Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue, Blanche, and the Power of Chosen Family (socialitelife.com) — A touring drag parody, The Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue, is bringing Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia to the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on October 22. Actor Vince Kelley, who plays Blanche, explains how the cast tailors jokes to each city, celebrates chosen family, and offers audiences a lighthearted escape rooted in the show's enduring LGBTQ+ fan base.
   

3. Suspect death in Mexico prompts closure of Roswell murder case (fox5atlanta.com) — A Sandy Springs resident, Blanca Sauer, was killed in Roswell on Christmas Eve 2024, and police have now closed the murder case after confirming her boyfriend and suspect died by suicide in Mexico. Investigators say he acted alone but have not shared a motive, while Sauer's family continues to remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, and restaurant owner.
   

4. 'This Is NOT Okay': Black Georgia Woman Accuses Sandy Springs Police of Racial Profiling After Officer Follows Her During Park Walk (newsbreak.com) — A Sandy Springs resident says a walk at Morgan Falls Park turned unsettling when a police officer followed her, demanded ID, and ultimately told her to leave despite the park not yet closing. Her TikTok videos describing the encounter as racial profiling have drawn wide attention and calls from viewers to file complaints and seek legal advice. Police have not publicly shared their account yet.
