Ashford Dunwoody Y celebrates Jan. 15 grand opening

Local Y completes first phase of renovations
Grand reopening celebration is January 15

The Cowart Family/Ashford Dunwoody YMCA completed a major renovation of its wellness areas. A grand reopening celebration will be held Thursday, January 15, from 5-8 p.m. The event includes tours, entertainment and refreshments along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. All local residents are invited to attend.

A new and expanded wellness center was added to the facility, located at 3692 Ashford Dunwoody Road. In addition, there are two new group exercise studios, family dressing areas, a new lobby and entrance, and an elevator.

The 6,900-square-foot wellness center has all strength training and cardio equipment and a free weight area. All the equipment is new and contains Cardio Theater personal viewing screens and FitLinxx, technology that tracks workouts.

“We are thrilled with the investment in this Y,” says Amie McDougal, wellness director. “It is a benefit for members to have this expanded center paired with the support of our wellness coaches. A program I recommend to all is The Coach Approach, a six-month exercise support process that helps people of any ability to start and stick with exercise. Best of all, it is free for all Y members.”

Still to come in the next phase of renovations will be a new play center for children while parents work out and a teen center.
