From Northside Hospital: Atlanta Liver & Pancreas Surgical Specialists has opened its doors, providing cutting-edge treatments for patients with benign and malignant disorders of the liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas.

Dr. Eddie K. Abdalla, who specializes in the diagnosis and multimodality treatment of problems of the liver and pancreas, will lead the practice. He is an internationally recognized surgeon, extensively published researcher and leader in hepatobiliary surgery and surgical oncology.

“My interest lies in helping patients navigate the complicated roads through therapy for hepatobiliary diseases to find the best way to solve their problems,” Dr. Abdalla said. “When we fit the plan to the patient, not the patient to the plan, we really achieve ‘personalized care’ that translates to the best possible outcome for each individual person.”

He has received national and international recognition for his work using innovative, advanced and integrated surgical techniques allowing for excellent outcomes on many patients with difficult tumors, tumors involving critical blood vessels and patients with multiple masses in the liver.

Dr. Abdalla, a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, completed his surgical training with research at the University of Florida, followed by a surgical oncology fellowship and research fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He then went further to elevate his expertise in hepatic surgery with additional training at the renowned Beaujon Hospital in Paris, France. Following years of work at M.D. Anderson and program-building internationally, Dr. Abdalla now coordinates a team of health care professionals, providing personalized, comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care at Northside Hospital.
