Avondale Estates Physical Therapist Receives State Horizon Award
Gillyn Saunders receives 2014 Horizon Award from the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia

ATLANTA (Oct. 23, 2014) –Avondale Estates resident and physical therapist at the Sports Rehab Center of Atlanta, Gillyn Saunders, PT, DPT, received the 2014 Horizon Award from the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG). The award recognizes an exceptional Georgia physical therapist who is actively involved in the betterment of the physical therapy profession through public service.
Saunders has actively worked in public service initiatives since graduating from Georgia State University in 2011, where she earned her doctorate of physical therapy. She pursued leadership opportunities within PTAG, serving as one of nine district directors nominated statewide, in addition to her role as a member of the board of directors. She has continually encouraged member participation and has actively raised the membership experience for her district members through coordinated events, which included hosting the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) President, Dr. Paul Rockar.
A major criterion for the Horizon Award is based on enthusiasm and service to PTAG in the first 2-3 years of membership. Eligible applicants are nominated through a specific selection process and are later voted on by both the PTAG Award and Executive Committees.
