Driving Safety and Common Sense

Many people think that when they are in their vehicle, they are in a safe little bubble. That can not be more far from the truth.

It is important to use common sense safety practices while you are driving.

1)  Never let your gas tank get below 1/4 tank:  This is important because in an emergency or driving in an unfamiliar area, you might run out of gas before you get to a gas station.

2)  Always leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front of you:  There are several reasons for this. A)  the vehicle in front of you might be broken down and you need to get around it. B) A dangerous situation may exist and you made need to leave the area quickly.

3)  Always keep your doors locked:  This will keep someone from getting in your vehicle while you are stopped.

4)  When filling up at a gas station:  Never leave your car unattended and lock your doors while filling up.  This keeps someone from swiping your purse or wallet.

5)  Keep your car in good condition:  This equals to less chances of breaking down and leaving yourself vulnerable to a crime.

6)  Situational Awareness:  Always pay attention to your surroundings and keep your eyes out for anything out of the ordinary.
