Mothers of the World-Wake up call

A real call and it's not on your cell phone. Please pay attention to your children while they still value your attention.

I can't begin to tell you how many families I see eating out in restaurants, three out of five are talking on the phone. Some at the same table, talking, but not to each other. Why go out? How important was that phone call? What is important is sitting next to you.

Yesterday I passed a car, this time a Mercedes, sometimes it might be a Ford. Point being, this happens in many cars. In the passenger seat sat a little girl about 8 years old, and mommy chatting away on her phone, not a hands free phone. Another missed opportuity. Having alone time with your child and not getting to know their world. You missed out.  

Family dinners are not a thing of the past.  t is not an occurance of grandmother's day, it is now, tomorrow and the day after.  Getting to know your children while they still want you to know..  Getting to know the world they live in. Getting to know who are their friends, getting to know their values. Don't miss the opportunity, it disappears in a flash. Today is our present, enjoy it.

So, what are the children learning? That it is okay to drive and talk on the phone. Remember, how many accidents you have heard about involving teenagers speaking on the phone. Where have they learned that? From Mom or Dad? Children tend to do more of what they see then what they hear. Wake up, care more, call less.Couldn't hurt, try it. You might just enjoy it.
