A Business Watch Program is offered by the SSPD to the more than 6,000 businesses in the city. This program is based on the Neighborhood Watch Program that we have all become familiar with.

It’s all about communication and education. The businesses communicate with each other and the SSPD. The SSPD will educate the businesses on how to reduce theft and safeguard its employees and customers.

The new feature of this program is looking into how well the business is set up for emergencies, such as an active shooter situation. We will ask to see the floor plans and layout of a business to help us if we have to respond to an emergency at your location. We will also go over how the SSPD will respond and what to expect from us in an emergency situation.
