Burglars Steal $20,000 In Jewelry From Sandy Springs Home: Police

The Sandy Springs Police Department is asking the public to help them identify the two male subjects captured on home surveillance cameras.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The Sandy Springs Police Department is investigating the case of two male subjects allegedly stealing jewelry valued at roughly $20,000 in a burglary committed while the homeowners were out of town.

An officer was dispatched to an alarm call at a home in the 300 block of Brixham Court around 5:38 a.m. Saturday, July 8. The caller told police that he was out of town, but could see two unknown males inside the house through his home security camera system, an incident report released by the Sandy Springs Police Department states.

The victim told police he watched as the men left the rear of the home carrying bags just before police arrived on the scene.

While canvassing the master bedroom, it appeared the male subjects removed a pillow case from the bed and used it to remove a jewelry box located in the bathroom closet. Officers observed that several dresser drawers were open and appeared to have been rummaged through.

The men, according to the report, appeared to have entered the residence by breaking out a small glass window of the rear patio door. A pair of loppers was located next to the door, which may have been used as an entry tool.

According to the report, the victim could only confirm that his wife's jewelry box was missing and the men "physically moved two of his front exterior security cameras and one rear camera," the report notes.

Sandy Springs police that about $20,000 in jewelry was taken from the house, including various rings, watches, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

The men in the footage were described as two young white males. One of the subjects had a short hair cut. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective William Johnson at 770-551-3314 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta 404 577-TIPS (8477).
