Burglary Suspect Targets Apartment Leasing Offices

Sandy Springs police say both incidents occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 5.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Detectives with the Sandy Springs Police Department are working to identify a man accused of burglarizing the leasing offices of two apartment communities.

Both incidents were reported during the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 5. Police believe the first burglary at Aspire Perimeter 5385 Peachtree Dunwoody Road took place between 4:48 a.m. and 6:12 a.m.

According to an incident report released by Sandy Springs police, a male driving a white, two-door Ford F-150 pulled up to the gate and "jimmied open the panel" to open the gate.

The suspect drives through the gate and pulls up to the apartment complex's gym door. Once inside the gym, he places television from an exercise machine and an Apple iPad on the floor.

Surveillance cameras also show the man leaving the gym area and making his way towards the leasing office. He's able to get inside the office by using a ground window and once inside, cameras show him allegedly taking five restaurant gift cards worth $25 each and an empty money box.

A witness at the complex told police she saw a thin white male wearing dark clothing and blue hat around the pool and gym area while she was out walking her dog.

The woman, according to the report, told police "the subject was trying to hide his face from her and was looking away from her as he ran from the area." The man left in a white truck part inside the gate area.

The Falls at Sandy Springs at 5555 Roswell Road was the site of the second burglary, which was reported to police at 8:58 a.m. Video obtained by police showed a white man wearing baseball hat and black jacket drive up and park his white Ford F-150 near the door to the laundry room, which is attached to the leasing office.

The suspect eventually enters the leasing office through a side window and "ransacks" the place, according to an incident report. Nothing appeared to have been stolen from the office at the time the report was taken.

The male subject appears to be in his 20's, and was reportedly wearing a black jacket, gray T-shirt, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap.

Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to contact Detective William Johnson at 770-551-3314.
