The ice rink will offer public skating sessions as well as classes on how to skate and play ice hockey.

Sandy Springs residents who would love to ice skate can now check out one of the city’s newest business.
Center Ice Arena, a 36,000-square-foot facility, opened last weekend and is located at 5750 Roswell Road.
Co-owner Michelle McIntosh said the facility opened to residents Dec. 20 and things have been going “great.”

“The doors opened at noon and it’s been smooth sailing ever since,” she said of last Saturday’s opening.
Admission for public skating is $8 for adults and $6 for children five and under. Residents who don’t have a pair of skates suitable for the rink can rent a pair for $4.

The 200-foot-by-85 foot ice skating rink is open for special holiday hours. The facility will be closed Christmas Day, but will re-open Friday, Dec. 26 for public skating sessions. Complete hours can be found on its website.
During the first week of January, Center Ice Arena will launch classes such as Learn to Play Hockey and Learn to Skate.
Learn to Play Hockey will be a six-week course for $95. Each class will be one hour one day a week. Learn To Skate will encompass three, 30-minute classes a week for eight weeks. The cost of that will be $145.
It will also host Atlanta Amateur Hockey League games, the oldest of its kind in the Atlanta area.
McIntosh added she hopes the community will come out and patronize the establishment.
“It’s just a great activity,” she said.
