City Development Expert Comes To Sandy Springs

Peter Kageyama will lead a dialogue on Thursday with citizens on how to build an emotionally engaged community.

Internationally recognized city development expert and author Peter Kageyama on Thursday will speak to Sandy Springs residents on what they can do to build an emotionally engaged city through ordinary things and, often, through inexpensive means.

Kageyama is interested in Sandy Springs’ story and recognizes the city’s potential for becoming an even more liveable, loveable place to live and work, Leadership Sandy Springs said in its press release.

Kageyama will discuss his ideas Feb. 5 Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, which is at 805 Mt. Vernon Highway NW. Networking and appetizers begin at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7:15 p.m.

The cost to attend is $25 for Leadership Sandy Springs members and $30 for non-members.

The Tampa native brings experience in guiding communities to create new possibilities for social and economic development, tailoring his ideas to the unique city in which he visits. With its recent national recognition as a preferred city for several corporate relocations, Sandy Springs has shown its desirability, particularly from a business perspective.

Kageyama is interested in taking things to the next level and turning the passion from the hearts of its residents into real outcomes, as he has done in other cities around the country.

Following the presentation and dialogue, Kageyama’s two books — “For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places” and “Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places” — will be available for purchase and signed by the author.
