City Springs Day Set For Aug. 11

This family-friendly, fun-filled day celebrates the grand opening of the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The city of Sandy Springs will celebrate the grand opening of its Performing Arts Center on Saturday with a slew of events designed to provide something for the entire family. City Springs Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, and there will be no shortage of activities in the city's new downtown district.

The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market, which is situated along Mount Vernon Highway. The market allows old friends to catch up and neighbors to make new connections over locally-sourced produce, handmade items and other baked goodies.

For those who are looking for a morning boost that doesn't involve caffeine, TURN Studio will host a boot camp from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the City Green.

  • 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.: music performance by Shiloh
  • 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Atlanta Opera sound check, performance
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Fiddles of November
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Maleah and Jared

Studio Theatre

  • 11:30 a.m. to noon: Atlanta Opera
  • Noon to 12:30 p.m.: Roswell Dance Theater
  • 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: AB2 (Atlanta Ballet)
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Franklin Pond Chamber Music
  • 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Room to Move Dance

Byers Theatre

A ribbon cutting will be held at 7:30 p.m. to formally open the Byers Theater at the Performing Arts Center. The celebration will continue with the Branford Marsalis Quartet taking the Byers Theatre stage after the ribbon cutting. A surprise after-party will be held after the concert, providing residents an opportunity to hang around following the show.

If that's not enough, the fun continues Sunday, Aug. 12 with the Concerts by the Springs after party at 8:30 p.m. with a surprise guest at CityView Terrace.
