City Springs Theatre Company Opens 9th Season with Les Misérables Sept. 11-27 in Sandy Springs
Four performances added to meet demand for this first LOCAL production of the musical in over a decade directed by Tony Award Winner
Sandy Springs-based City Springs Theatre Company (CSTC) kicks off its ninth season of musicals at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center with the global hit Les Misérables, directed by Tony Award®-winner Shuler Hensley, a veteran of the show’s original Broadway run. Les Misérables is part of CSTC’s 2026 - 2027 PNC Bank Season and is additionally presented by both The Federovitch Family and Peachtree Hearing. The production will run September 11-27, 2026, at Byers Theatre.
Since its London premiere in 1985, Les Misérables has been seen by more than 150 million theatregoers worldwide, dubbing it “the world’s most-popular musical.” Although it has been seen on tour, the three weekend run in the SSPAC’s Byers Theatre will be the first local mounting of the musical in more than a decade.
“Because of its rich history and global success, Les Misérables probably has the broadest appeal of any musical we’ve ever produced,” says Executive Director Natalie DeLancey. “Les Miz changed the cultural landscape in so many ways - not only by helping usher in the era of the ‘mega-musical,’ but by introducing so many new theatergoers of all ages to the art form. Because of its immense popularity, for many, this was the first musical they had ever seen.”

Breaking his parole in hopes of beginning a new life, Valjean embarks on a lifelong struggle for redemption while being relentlessly pursued by the determined Inspector Javert, who refuses to believe he can change. Epic, grand, and uplifting, the musical features an iconic score including the songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More,” and “Master of the House.” The original Broadway production received eight Tony Awards® in 1987 including Best Musical, as well as the Grammy Award® for Best Musical Show Cast Album, selling more than four million copies in the US alone.
