City Springs Theatre Company Rolls Out Education Program

The city of Sandy Springs will partner with the company for this initiative, which will expose residents to diverse arts programming.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The city of Sandy Springs will soon open its Performing Arts Center at City Springs, and to add to the excitement of this highly-anticipated venue, it will partner with City Springs Theatre Company to introduce an arts education initiative to the public.

Mayor Rusty Paul said the goal of this new campaign to expose residents of all backgrounds to "high quality, diverse performing arts education programming."

"We want to provide access to the arts for underserved populations who lack the resources to attend arts events and engage young people in the exploration of potential career opportunities in the arts,” he added.

City Springs Theatre Company will work alongside the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center management in the planning, production and execution of the arts education program. The company will also be one of the contributing organizations that, along with other local and national artists, will provide its own programming to support this initiative.

Program offerings will serve prekindergarten through college students and educators, and engage the educational community through a student matinee series, hands-on training and summer programming, highlighting all disciplines of the arts. The greater community will have opportunities to engage in the arts through family-oriented programming, summer arts camps, and the ability to interact with artists to understand the creative process.

“The mission of City Springs Theatre Company is to ‘entertain, educate, and enrich our community’, and our collaboration with the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center allows us to do just that,” said City Springs Theatre Executive/Artistic Director Brandt Blocker. “CSTC Managing Director Natalie Barrow’s relationships with Atlanta-area arts organizations and her expertise in developing educational and community programming will allow us to have an immediate impact on the students we’ll serve. We support and appreciate Mayor Paul’s directive to provide access to the performing arts to students of all ages, and we are enthusiastic to begin this meaningful work.”

Funding for the arts education and community programming initiatives is provided through the Sandy Springs Foundation. The Performing Arts Center is due to open in August with a series of opening season events to introduce the community to the metro area’s newest performing arts venue.
