Cocaine, Ecstasy Seized During Traffic Stop In Sandy Springs
The following information was obtained from an incident report released by the Sandy Springs Police Department.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A routine traffic stop on a vehicle over the weekend unearthed a large stash of drugs inside a duffel bag in Sandy Springs.
The traffic stop was made on a gold Toyota Camry around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 along Hammond Drive near S.R. 400 when the vehicle was observed "changing lanes, braking irregularly and attempting to turn into parking lots that were closed," an incident report released by the police department states.
The officer pulled over the car and spoke with the driver. While speaking with the driver, the officer noted both the woman and the front-seat passenger were "extremely nervous, shaking and not making any logical sense (as to) why they were driving through Sandy Springs." Another male passenger was also located in the backseat of the vehicle.

The officer asked the female driver to step outside the vehicle and obtained her consent to search the car "because of the above indicators." The woman granted the request and while conducting the search, officers came upon a black duffel back, which allegedly contained another bag filled with a white powdery substance. Officers also located a large Ziploc back filled with dozens of green squares that looked like chalk, the report adds.
Next to the drugs, which an on-site test confirmed to be cocaine and MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy), were a large silver scale and small "dime bags" used to distribute drugs, the report says (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. The officer asked who was the owner of the duffel bag and the front-seat passenger, identified as Kenneth Julian Rogers, 32, said the bag belonged to him.
"I asked him why he had MDMA, cocaine and items used to sell drugs and he stated that was not his drugs," the report adds.

Rogers later added the driver and the other passenger were not involved with the drugs and that he "made made a big mistake."
Police recovered roughly 18 grams of cocaine and 71 ecstasy pills, which weighed about 22 grams. Rogers, who lives in Sandy Springs, was taken into custody and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of MDMA with the intent to distribute.
He was booked into the Fulton County Jail with a $10,000 bond. The driver and the other male passenger were not charged.
