Community Leaders Get Firsthand Look at Running a School

Sandy Springs' North Springs Charter High School this week hosted 3 leaders for the annual Principal of the Day initiative.

As part of this week’s Fulton County Schools (FCS) Principals of the Day program, North Springs Charter High School and Principal Dr. Eddie Ruiz had the honor of hosting three community leaders to take part in Principals of the Day, more than any other FCS school.

North Springs on Nov. 17 hosted David Reinhart, specialty director of Perioperative Services at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

On Nov. 18, Mark Rosenthal, talent acquisition and human resources manager for Northside Hospital, visited the school and Lever Stewart, president of MLQ Attorney Services and chair-elect of the board of directors of the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, took part of the initiative on Nov. 19.

“All three guest principals enjoyed the experience and were impressed with North Springs and all that goes on here,” Dr. Ruiz said. “They were all enthusiastic about returning and supporting areas where they could contribute their expertise- especially in our microbiology, healthcare science and business management classes. It was great. I appreciated their perspective and the chance to have them experience part of my day.”

The program, now in its seventh year, is held each year during American Education Week, Nov. 17-21, and offers community leaders the opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to lead a school.
