🌱 COVID-19 Infection Rate Update + Emergency Room Services Ending

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sandy Springs.

Welcome back, Sandy Springs! Here's everything you need to know to get this Saturday started. Here's what's happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Cooler with clouds and sun. High: 64 Low: 51.

Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

  1. The COVID-19 infection rate in Sandy Springs is reportedly 9.2 percent lower than the national average. According to data obtained through May 3, there were 22,674.9 confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents in the Atlanta metro area. That is lower than the 24,960.7 cases per 100,000 Americans across the country. (MSN.com)
  2. A jury has decided that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene can run for re-election if Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger ultimately decides to allow it. If Raffensperger decides to deny Greene, she has 10 days to file an appeal with the Fulton County Superior Court. The federal lawsuit Greene has filed, which challenges the law that allows voters to keep her off the ballot, is still pending. (WAPT.com)
  3. Wellstar's Atlanta Medical Center South continues with its plans to end emergency room services despite South Fulton County leaders asking it to postpone those plans. The center will begin offering 24/7 Urgent Care in place of emergency services. The center is reportedly ending the emergency services because only 5 percent of patients require them. (CBS46.com)
