Davis Qualifies To Run In House District 80 Special Election

Former Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis is a candidate for the July 14 election to fill the seat, which covers a portion of Sandy Springs.

Former Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis on Wednesday presented the paperwork and fee necessary to qualify to run in the July 14 special election to fill the vacant House District 80 seat.

Davis will be placed on the ballot for the election, which became vacant when former State Rep. Mike Jacobs accepted an appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the DeKalb County State Court bench.

“It’s an exciting time,” said Davis. “Now that I’ve qualified, I’m ready to take my successful record and positive ideas to the voters throughout the district. It will be an intense, fast campaign and I’m really looking forward to it.”

House District 80 covers almost all of Brookhaven, and portions of Sandy Springs and Chamblee.

Davis, a Republican, led the effort to create the city of Brookhaven and was elected its inaugural mayor in 2012. His father, Max Davis, served in the State House of Representatives for over two decades. You can learn more at JMaxforHouse.com.
