Deadline Extended For 2016 Humanitarian Award Nominees (UPDATED)

The city of Sandy Springs will present the award during its annual MLK Day festivities, which are scheduled for Jan. 18, 2016.

The city of Sandy Springs will give residents an additional week to submit their nominations for its 2016 Humanitarian Award.

Submissions are due by noon Friday, Dec. 11 to the city of Sandy Springs for the award, which honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by recognizing an individual who embodies the civil rights activist’s history of character and service.

The original deadline was set for noon Dec. 4.

Nominees must live or work within the city of Sandy Springs to be eligible for nomination.

The nomination form can be found online at http://spr.gs/3. A volunteer committee will review all nominations, and select the award recipient.

The award will be presented during the city’s annual MLK Day Festivities, which are scheduled for Jan. 18, 2016.
