Deadline To Submit MLK Award Nominations is Friday

Sandy Springs residents have until Dec. 5 to submit their picks for the award, which will be presented on Jan. 19, 2015.

The deadline to submit nominations for the city of Sandy Springs’ 2015 Humanitarian Award is less than 24 hours away.

Nominations for the award, which honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., are due by noon Friday, Dec. 5.

The award “recognizes an individual who embodies King’s history of character and service,” the city said in its press release.

Nominees must live or work within the city of Sandy Springs to be eligible for the award.

“We have many great people who do amazing things to help those less fortunate within our community,” sand Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul. “ The Humanitarian Award provides us with the opportunity to publicly recognize and thank these volunteers.”

The nomination form can be found on the city’s website. A volunteer committee will review all nominations and select the award recipient. Hugo Mullins, CEO and owner ofFamily Ties Inc., received the award in 2014.

The award will be presented during Sandy Springs’ annual MLK Day Festivities, which fall on January 19, 2015.
