SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Editor’s note: the following incidents were taken from the Sandy Springs Police Department’s Weekly Wrap Up compiled by Capt. Steve Rose, which contains some — not all — of the incidents that occurred July 16-21:

Arrests

  • 4900 block of Spring Creek Lane, 30350, 7/16: Cops responded to a suspicious person call around 10 p.m. after the complainant said a man was trying to come in his back door. They found a man who matched the description. He was seen running towards the officers who stopped him and removed a pistol from him. The man said the Mexican Cartel and the CIA were after him and had placed electronic devices in his walls to electrocute him. The man said he had been using methamphetamine and cocaine recently. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment and given a citation on the charges.
  • Dupree Road,30328, 7/20: Around 1:30 p.m. cops were called to a car that had wrecked into a ditch. EMS personnel said they saw a man running from the car. A responding officer stopped a man matching that description. He gave the cops a fake name. They called the registered owner, who said the driver could be her brother’s friend and gave them his name. His driver’s license information and photo showed the man they had in custody was the same and the expired Pennsylvania driver’s license information given to them by the registered owner of the car. The cops found some marijuana in the car. He was charged with traffic offenses, misdemeanor marijuana charges, and charges related to giving false information to the cops. He was taken to jail.

Assault

  • 1000 block of Greyfield Lane, 30350, 7/17: Around 1:30 p.m., cops were called to the residence regarding an incident that involved the following: A man said he was hit in the head with a hammer, courtesy of his girlfriend’s sister. He had a laceration on the back of his head. He was later taken to North Fulton Hospital and had three staples inserted to close the wound. The complainant, girlfriend and her sister all live at the incident location. Apparently the complainant and the sister got into an argument over some missing marijuana. The argument moved from inside to the back balcony. The sister took a bowling ball and threw it over the ground-level balcony, damaging it. The sister then threw a glass candle at him, connecting on his arm. He then picked up a pine cone (pine cone???) and threw it at her (Really?). He then tried to hop over the balcony to re-enter the apartmen, but she prevented him from doing it. He then decided to walk around and while doing so, she came up behind him and whacked him with the hammer. Of course her version was different other than the hammer part. The sister was later
arrested on aggravated assault charges. The victim’s injuries were not serious.
