Driver Dies in Crash On GA-400 in Sandy Springs

There were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the fatal wreck, police said.

​SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A motorist died in a single-vehicle crash along S.R. 400 in Sandy Springs.

A vehicle traveling southbound on the highway left the roadway near the Hammond Drive interchange shortly after midnight Tuesday, May 31.

After leaving the road, the vehicle struck a sign post, said Sandy Springs police Capt. Mike Lindstrom.

There were no passengers inside the vehicle, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Lindstrom added. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Three lanes of S.R. 400 were closed while traffic investigators worked the crash scene. Return to Patch for updates.
