Driver Killed In Rear-End Collision In Sandy Springs

The accident was reported early Saturday morning along GA-400 northbound at the Chattahoochee River.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The driver of a passenger vehicle was killed over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash along GA-400 in Sandy Springs.

Police and fire units with the cities of Sandy Springs and Roswell were dispatched around 3:07 a.m. Saturday, July 22 on the northbound side at the Chattahoochee River bridge. Officers were informed that a white Ford F-150 struck the back of a 2005 black Volvo S40 that was in the left lane.

According to an incident report released by Sandy Springs police, the driver of the Ford said the Volvo was either stopped or traveling slowly and did not have on any lights. The driver of the truck, who told police he was traveling to Alpharetta after working at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, said he was not injured in the collision.

However, EMS officials transported the motorist, who "did not display any signs of impairment," to North Fulton Hospital for evaluation after determining the man's blood pressure was elevated, the report adds.

The driver of the Volvo, identified as Kacey N. Webb, 27, of Atlanta, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to an obituary, Webb's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at Redemption Fellowship Church in Fayetteville. Webb's family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 28 at South DeKalb Chapel.
