'Equipoise' Show Opens at Ventulett Gallery
Paintings by Bonnie Beauchamp-Cooke featured Nov. 17–Jan. 7, beginning with free, public reception this Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Paintings by Buckhead resident Bonnie Beauchamp-Cooke have been collected into the show “Equipoise,” which opens Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Ventulett Gallery. The light-filled gallery is located just inside Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church.
"Equipoise" is defined as balance and harmony, which is the best description of the works created for this particular exhibit, the artist says. "It's all about balance and harmony, texture… it just defines the whole show."

Beauchamp-Cooke's paintings are known for their natural colors and large canvases, or wood, prepared with several base layers of mixed media—including sand and dirt that the artist applies with her fingers. The dirt is taken from Beauchamp-Cooke's family farm in Madison, Ga., her childhood home.

Each painting in the Ventulett Gallery show also includes a cross—sometimes hidden, other times bold, but always an anchoring element symbolizing her personal equipoise between spirituality and nature.
"Equipoise" runs through Jan. 7.
