Food That Rocks To Benefit Sandy Springs Charities

Food That Rocks, a Celebration of Sandy Springs, will be held May 14 at Hammond Park.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Sandy Springs residents will soon be able to eat, drink and party for a good cause when the first-ever Food That Rocks celebration rolls into town.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 14 at Hammond Park.

More than 25 local restaurants will be rocking the big tent during an all-inclusive event, which will benefit Sandy Springs-based charities Second Helpings, Ian’s Friends Foundation and the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

The event, for adults age 21 and older, will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the park, which is at 705 Hammond Drive.

Tickets are $55 per person in advance, $65 at the door and can be purchased online.

In partnership with the Sandy Springs Restaurant Council and Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, Food That Rocks is presented by TasteATL and Taste of Atlanta.

“The Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber is proud to partner with Taste of Atlanta, and we’re confident they will shine a bright light on our city’s restaurants and businesses,” said Tom Mahaffey, executive director of the Chamber.

Honorary co-chairs of the event include Sandy Springs residents Myron Smith of Second Helpings Atlanta, Ian Yagoda of Ian’s Friends Foundation, Lin Koperwas, ovarian cancer survivor and GOCA beneficiary and Gavin Perkins, aka Super Gav, a cancer survivor and Ian’s Friends Foundation friend.

“I am really proud to be part of the Sandy Springs community and wanted to help showcase all the great local restaurants,” said Dale Gordon DeSena, founder and CEO of Taste of Atlanta and Food That Rocks. “Food That Rocks will feature Sandy Springs’ amazing dining community and culinary talent, while giving back to the place I call home.”
