Former Mayor Will Share Economic Development Ideas In Sandy Springs

Former Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd will be the guest speaker at Leadership Sandy Springs' Breakfast Buzz on Nov. 5.

A former metro Atlanta mayor will share his ideas on economic development with the movers and shakers of Sandy Springs.

Former Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd, project director with Pendleton Consulting Group, will be the guest speaker at Leadership Sandy Springs’ Breakfast Buzz.

Breakfast Buzz will take place at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Morgan Falls Cafe. The cafe sits at 7840 Roswell Road.

Floyd will discuss how economic development could be a great tool for building small businesses, quality restaurants and desirable residential communities.

The cost to attend is $12 for members and $15 for guests. Attendees can pay online or at the door before the event.

Floyd was elected to the Decatur City Commission in 1991. While on the commission, he served as mayor pro-tem from 1994 to 1997 and as the city’s mayor from 1999 to 2013.

Along with his service in Decatur, Floyd has been involved in leadership position with several other civic organizations. He was elected president of the Georgia Municipal Association in 2009 and served as president through 2010. He is also a past president of the Metro Atlanta Mayors’ Association. 

Floyd currently serves on the Atlanta Regional Commission where he is a member of the Transportation and Air Quality Committee, Policy Committee and Atlanta Regional Workforce Board.
