This announcement came as part of the district’s succession plan after current deputy superintendent, Dr. Scott Muri, was selected as the sole finalist for superintendent of Spring Branch Independent School District in Texas.
Anderson currently serves as area superintendent of the district’s Northeast Learning Community, which includes 22 schools in the cities of Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Roswell.

He previously served as Fulton’s chief of staff, serving as a member of the executive cabinet and working with various departments and stakeholders throughout the district to manage constituent concerns, complex projects and advise Superintendent Robert Avossa on educational policy.
Dr. Anderson brings more than 18 years of experience with him to the position. He started his career as an inner city math and science teacher in Orlando and went on to serve in several leadership roles, including department chair, administrative dean, assistant principal and then as a high school principal for eight years.
The Spring Branch ISD School Board is expected to formally offer Dr. Muri the superintendent’s position after a 21-day waiting period required by Texas law. Dr. Anderson will work closely with Dr. Muri over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition before his departure.
