Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:

  1. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jane C. Barwick has sentenced a man to life in prison for fatally shooting a Fulton County Police Department Detective in 2015. Amanuel Menghesha, 50, was found guilty of malice murder, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and various other charges. The prosecutor was originally seeking the death penalty. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Atlanta Braves' Marcell Ozuna was arrested for driving under the influence on Friday morning by the Norcross Police Department. This is not the first legal trouble that Ozuna has had in Georgia. In 2021, he was arrested by the Sandy Springs Police Department for choking his wife. He received a 20-game suspension for the 2021 incident. (NBC Chicago)
  3. The Fulton County District Attorney's Office deemed Sen. Lindsey Graham's testimony "crucial" to its investigation through a court filing on Friday. The subpoena requires Sen. Graham to testify to the grand jury on Tuesday. The investigation is related to the alleged interference in the 2020 Georgia election. (CNN)
