Fulton Wants Feedback on Plan To Create 'Viable Urban Communities'
The county has scheduled a public input meeting for Wednesday on its five-year Consolidated Planning Document.

Fulton County has scheduled an additional public meeting in conjunction with Johns Creek to allow more public input into the process of planning and preparing its five-year Consolidated Planning Document to determine the needs of the community in developing viable urban communities.
The plan provides decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanded economic opportunities principally for low and moderate- income persons.

The public input meeting will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Community Room of the Shakerag Fire Station, located at 10925 Rogers Circle in Johns Creek.
The Consolidated Planning Process uses Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnership Program and Emergency Solution Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The final Consolidated Plan document will describe the county’s plan to pursue the goals for all community planning and development programs serving communities outside of the cities of Atlanta, Roswell and Sandy Springs utilizing these federal grant dollars from HUD.
Fulton County wants public input in order to achieve the prioritization of the needs and goals by using approved processes for public input.
Resident input is needed to help determine these priorities for Fulton County over the next five years. Some of the topics for discussion may include but are not limited to:
- Decent housing to include assisting homeless persons to obtain appropriate housing
- Retention of the affordable housing stock
- Increasing the availability of permanent housing in standard condition and at an affordable cost to low income families without discrimination
- Increasing access to quality public and private facilities and services
- Revitalization of deteriorating neighborhoods
- Expanding economic opportunities including job creation and retention
- Establish, stabilize and expand small business
- Mortgage financing using nondiscriminatory lending practices
- Fair Housing
Additional meetings may be scheduled if needed to increase public participation, and will be posted on the Fulton County website.
