Teachers at the Sandy Springs Elementary School judged 246 science projects.
Heards Ferry Elementary School held its first annual Science Fair, last week. Participants included 246 students in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.
The students used the scientific method to create their choice of biological, physical or chemical science project. The projects ranged from discovering which products removed tarnish from pennies to how much heat is necessary to hatch an egg.

“Our students learned first hand about the scientific process, and were excited about science and their individual experiments,” said Elbert Hutton, HFE Talented and Gifted teacher who established the Science Fair. “It created an opportunity for families to discuss science at the dinner table. The Science Fair was a win-win situation for all!”
Hutton brought the Science Fair to HFE to improve science achievement at Heards Ferry. Heards Ferry teachers judged all 246 projects against a comprehensive rubric.
