In Choate’s Sandy Springs office, Cars & ‘Q for the Cause on Saturday, May 30, is just one of many custom “fun”raisers created by Choate employees to support the Foundation.

Tickets in advance are $15 for event entry and dinner and $30 for entry, dinner and access to the bar. Tickets rise to $20 and $40, respectively, at the door. The event will be held at Choate’s offices at 8200 Roberts Drive in Sandy Springs.

Over 400 participants join Choate for the company’s annual car show and BBQ featuring 70 classic, muscle, exotic cars and bikes. The event has something for everyone including dinner, beer and wine, live music and a raffle, and has tremendous support from a variety of groups including the real estate community, the car community and young professionals.

In its sixth year, the event raises over $20,000 of the company’s annual $130,000-plus contributions to the Foundation.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation seeks “to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care,” according to the organization’s website.

The car show grew out of CEO Millard Choate’s lifelong passion for collectible cars. And since car obsessions start young, his daughter Emily Choate-Bridges, who now serves as marketing director for Choate Construction, shares her dads’ enthusiasm and organizes the event.

“Choate has a lot of employees with car-guy credentials,” Choate-Bridges said. “Combine that with our strong backbone for community service, and an annual car show for CF just made sense.”

Choate’s fervor for a cure began over 25 years ago when Emily’s best friend Leann Rittenbaum was diagnosed with CF, and a hope for a cure became a personal cause for the Choate’s.

Within that same year, Millard Choate began his construction company as a basement start-up out of his home, and his corporate mission was clear. Now over two decades later, Choate Construction has raised over $2 million for the Foundation, and raising funds is a top priority for the construction company with offices in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
