GDOT: 1 More Weekend of Road Work, Then Holiday Reprieve
Crews will suspend construction-related lane closures for the Christmas and New Year's holiday weekends.

North Fulton motorists have just one more weekend to navigate construction-related road closures throughout metro Atlanta.
Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation projects to improve highway infrastructures will continue this weekend. Specifically, residents are asked to avoid non-essential travel on Interstate 20 on the westside of the metro area.
Following this weekend’s work, GDOT will suspend construction-related lane closures for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weekends. That means:

- No closures on interstates, major state routes or roadways near major shopping districts between 5 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, and 10 p.m. Sunday Dec. 28; and
- Similar provisions will be implemented from 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 to 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2.
Planned work this weekend is as follows:
- One lane southbound on Georgia (State Route) 400 between I-285 and the Glenridge Connector will be closed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for fiber optic cable installation;
- Bridge joint and header replacement will require closing two eastbound I-20 lanes from Six Flags Parkway for approximately one mile continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday;
- Bridge joint repairs will require two westbound I-20 lanes between McDaniels and Langhorn streets be closed continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday;
- Sign structure work on the southwest side of I-285 will require lane closures in both directions between the I-85 interchange and Washington Road, continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday;
- On S.R. 400, one northbound lane and shoulder will be closed between Peachtree Road and Old Ivey Road continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday; and
- Sidewalk repairs on East Lake Drive between Ponce de Leon Avenue and Paden Circle will close one lane on Saturday from 8 a.m. to early afternoon.
