GDOT Extends Time Motorists Can Use GA-400 Flex Shoulder Lanes
Residents can ride in the lanes 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the mornings and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the afternoon rush hour.

Motorists commuting during the week on S.R. 400 will be able to use the flex shoulder lanes for an additional hour during morning and afternoon rush hours.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has extended the morning hours from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. The afternoon rush hour time frame has been lengthened from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“Commuters voiced their concerns about extending the hours for the flex shoulder lanes,” said Patrick Allen, Metro Assistant District Engineer. ”The Georgia DOT recognized their concerns and the need to extend the hours. The new hours for the flex shoulder lanes on GA-400 are a part of the Georgia DOT’s commitment to relieve traffic congestion in metro Atlanta.”
The northbound flex shoulder lanes on S.R. 400 start at the MARTA North Springs Station and end at Northridge Road in Sandy Springs. The southbound flex shoulder lanes start at Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell and end at the MARTA North Springs Station.

Motorists driving on these lanes should not exceed the posted 45-mph shoulder lane advisory speed limit and exercise extreme caution.
The flex shoulder lanes originally opened Spring 2012 to relieve traffic traveling on S.R. 400.
