Get Ready, Sandy Springs, Here Comes Winter

If you haven’t broken out your cold-weather clothes yet, get to it, because it’s about to get pretty frosty around here.

According to weather forecasts, north Georgia is about to be blasted by the coldest air of the season, with low temperatures expected to dip well below freezing by Thursday night in Sandy Springs, north Fulton County and the rest of the region.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City said a cold Canadian air mass will move across the state Wednesday and push the temps down to the 20s and 30s by Friday and Saturday mornings. Wind gusts to 15 mph will make it feel even colder.

The forecast for Sandy Springs calls for overnight lows of 28 degrees on both Thursday and Friday. The high will be 45 Friday and 49 on Saturday, followed by a cold rain Sunday, with a high of 48.

The weather service recommends covering delicate plants and protecting your pets through the cold snap.

Freeze warnings for Thursday night have already been issued in Alabama.
