The charges and subsequent indictment against Menghesha stem from a series of incidents that began in the early morning hours of March. 911 operators initially received calls of shots fired inside Menghesha’s home on Parks Trail in south Fulton County.
Officers arrived at the scene, but the defendant was no longer there, the District Attorney’s Office said. A short time later, neighbors called 911 after hearing sounds of gunfire a few streets over on Chastain Way.
As officers converged on the area, shots were fired behind them, fatally striking Green in the head. Authorities returned gunfire, injuring Menghesha in the process.
He was apprehended at the scene and later booked into the Fulton County Jail.
The case has been assigned to Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams and will be scheduled for trial at a later date.
