GYN Surgical Specialists Opens In Sandy Springs, Woodstock

From GYN Surgical Specialist: GYN Surgical Specialists and Dr. Rama Rao are proud to announce their new full-service gynecologic practice, with offices at Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs and the Northside/Towne Lake medical campus in Woodstock.

GYN Surgical Specialists offers comprehensive women’s health care and routine gynecological care, as well as the most advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat a wide range of gynecologic issues including painful bladder syndrome, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic masses, uterine fibroids, uterine bleeding and more.

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Rama Rao provides a patient-centered approach to women’s health care in a compassionate and trusting environment.

“I collaborate with my patients so that I can focus on prevention, health maintenance and early detection and treatment of conditions specific to women,” said Dr. Rao. “My approach to my patients’ care starts with my bedside manner and is focused on mutual empathy and respect for women from all walks of life.”

Prior to receiving her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Rao obtained a master’s in public health, focusing on maternal and child health. She completed an OB/GYN residency at Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ.

Before joining GYN Surgical Specialists, Dr. Rao practiced for eight years, caring for women in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. During that time, she completed a two-year fellowship in surgical GYN oncology, radical pelvic surgery and advanced robotic surgery alongside some of the nation’s leading experts in GYN surgery and GYN oncology. She is a skilled robotic surgeon, having performed hundreds of robotic surgeries including very complex cases.

When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Rao is a mom, a wife, an aunt and a daughter. She loves to travel with her family and go to their soccer games on weekends, and enjoys cooking good Indian food.
