Holy Innocents' Mat Bears Strong at Woodward War Eagle Classic

Freshman John Gibson takes first in weight class.

The Holy Innocents’ Mat Bears competed at the Woodward War Eagle Classic Friday and Saturday and with some good results.

Leading the charge was freshman John Gibson - he went 8-0 in the two-day event with six pins in winning his weight class. Coach Stacey Davis had two others perform well - juniors Keegan Donahoo and Turner Gill captured fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Bears also had success at the JV level as four placed. Porter Null finished first in his weight class, Liam Love second, Sam Cravey third and George Perkins fourth. Null, Love and Cravey are all freshmen - Perkins is a sophomore.

Davis & Company will compete in Charleston next week as Golden Bear wrestling action continues.
